"Waking Up" is a short, bitter song of betrayal, played primarily by Page on piano and sung in tight harmony by Trey and Page. Emotionally it may rank as the most somber and ominous song that Phish has ever brought to the stage. That may be why you can stick this in the relatively empty bag of Phish compositions that have only been played once. Unless you count the “Bradstock” private party on 6/6/97, the 6/14/97 Dublin performance marks the only time that “Waking Up” has been performed to date.
